Flooding at our Lake Street branch
The heavy rains on Sunday 22nd September damaged our Lake Street branch.
Key areas and the electricity supply were found to have suffered significant water damage.
The site was unsafe for staff and patients and thus had to be closed. NHS Property Services (NHSPS), who own the building and who are wholly responsible for its exterior upkeep, were notified, as well as the ICB.
We recognise and share the frustration and inconvenience that this is causing to our patients. For five years St Bartholomew and Hollow Way Medical Practice have worked with NHSPS to try to ensure that patient services can continue to run from our Lake Street site. This has meant closure of the building for long periods of time, due to planned and unplanned works.
Unfortunately, St Bartholomew and Hollow Way Medical Practice is not able to contract or control any of the work done to the building and we are therefore at the mercy of NHSPS.
After every project of works, we have been assured by NHSPS that the building should have no further issues. We had no reason to anticipate any problems with the recent adverse weather.
We will continue to feedback our concerns to NHSPS in undermining local patient care and would encourage our patients to do so as well.
While waiting for the Lake Street building issues to be resolved we will, as usual, be offering patients services from our other sites at Manzil Way, Ivy Close and Oxford Brookes Headington Campus.
