Here’s what you need to know

  • The Scribe hears the conversation and types up relevant notes – It works by listening to the conversation with your GP and typing up notes, so the GP can focus more on you. It’s only interested in medical information relevant to your care.
  • The Scribe uses some simple AI – The Scribe is built by a team led by doctors and uses some basic AI to turn the conversation into clear notes to support your care and help the doctor save time.
  • Your GP checks all the notes – Your GP will review and edit notes before saving them to your medical record – nothing is added to your medical record by the Scribe. All decisions about your care are made by your doctors.
  • Your conversations are private – The technology follows all the necessary UK data, privacy rules and NHS standards. Your voice recordings are not stored with Accurx Scribe. Only what your GP decides is needed is saved to your medical record.
  • It’s always your choice – If you’re not comfortable using a Scribe, do ask your clinician for more information on how it works. If you feel uncomfortable, you can let the clinician know and ask them not to use it.

We are using an AI Scribe to improve your care

An AI Scribe allows your clinician to focus more on you and less on their computer or writing notes during your appointment.

What this means for you

  • More time with your clinician - less time spent typing.
  • More accurate, complete notes, delivered to you faster.

Your privacy is protected

  • Audio of your consultation is never stored and all notes are securely encrypted.
  • Data is minimised to remove any names or personal identifiers.

Your clinician is in full control

  • Accurx Scribe only helps with note taking, but your clinician reviews and approves it all.

Your choice matters

  • If you'd rather your clinician didn't use the AI scribe, just let them know.

Accurx is an experienced and accredited NHS supplier

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Accurx Scribe?

Accurx Scribe is an ambient voice software that transcribes your conversation and uses AI to summarise it into a structured form for medical notes and letters. Clinicians can instantly review and modify notes, and generate further documents. Accurx Scribe helps to cut admin time so that your healthcare professional can focus on providing care to you.

Is Accurx Scribe listening to everything I say?

In order to create notes and documents, Accurx Scribe listens to you and your healthcare professional during your interaction, and transcribes the conversation into text in real-time. Once it is in text, patient and GP letters can be automatically generated, saving your clinician time and allowing them to focus more of their time on their conversation with you. No audio files are stored.

Who has access to my medical data?

We use strict controls to ensure only your clinician can access sensitive information. We're GDPR and NHS compliant, and our data is handled using ISO27001-certified infrastructure.

Where is my data stored?

The transcript and related documents are temporarily stored in data centres within the European Economic Area, in line with UK-GDPR, and are stored for 30 days to give your clinician time to review notes if needed.

Is my medical data used for anything else?

Never - your data remains yours. Accurx does not sell data to anyone, ever, and your data is not used to train any AI models. Protecting your privacy is a fundamental commitment, and Accurx has processes in place to ensure your information remains secure and confidential.

Can I access a recording of the appointment?

Conversation audio is transcribed into text at the time of the appointment and is immediately deleted so neither clinicians nor patients can access the audio recording. After this, the transcription and generated notes & documents become the record of the conversation for clinicians to review. Clinicians are able to share summaries of the conversation with you through Accurx or other hospital systems.
